Biography of Melanie J. Strigel
Melanie J. Strigel has over 31 years’ experience in the fields of retirement plans, employee benefits, estate planning, trusts, probate, and business and personal tax planning. She has over 25 years’ experience in providing legal advice to governmental entities in the areas of retirement plans and tax planning. She provides day-to-day advice to both governmental and private entities regarding retirement plan and cafeteria plan matters, as well as advice concerning design and operation of such plans. She has significant experience in drafting retirement plans, summary plan descriptions, and forms. She advises clients extensively in retirement plan compliance matters and has advised clients in both Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor audits and investigations.
Ms. Strigel received her B.A., with Honors, from Hendrix College, her J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law, and her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Professional Advisory Council. She is admitted to practice by examination in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Hampshire, and Maine. She has published articles in the UALR Law Journal and The Arkansas Lawyer. She received the Arkansas Bar Foundation Writing Award for her article, "Retirement Planning for Lawyers," The Arkansas Lawyer (Winter 2015).
