Biography of Thomas L. Overbey (Retired)
Thomas L. Overbey has many years of experience in the fields of estate planning, trusts, probate, retirement plans, business, and personal tax planning. He received his B.A. from Hendrix College, his J.D. from the University of Arkansas, and his LL.M. in Taxation from Southern Methodist University.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Regents. He is a past Chairman of the Technology in the Practice Committee, and a past member of the Digital Property Task Force, the Business Planning Committee, the State Chairs Steering Committee, the Long Range Planning Committee, and served as State Chair for Arkansas.
Also, he has been a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Washington County Bar Association, Arkansas Chapter of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, and the Arkansas Bar Foundation. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1983 in the categories of Trusts and Estates, Tax Law, and Employee Benefits Law. He is also listed in Mid-South SuperLawyers since 2007 in the categories of Estate Planning & Probate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Tax. He has been named the 2017 Trusts & Estates Lawyer of the Year in Arkansas by Trusts & Estates Law Experts.
He has been a consulting or testifying expert witness in 33 court cases on issues involving taxation, fiduciary responsibility, malpractice, probate and trust law.
